One on One or Private lessons
Often in our development as a dancer we feel like we have become a little stuck, or we are not advancing at the rate at which we hoped to.
Please take a look at my feature Learning Experiences Here
When this happens its helpful to either get some extra time with your teacher, or book some time with another teacher who can give you a fresh perspective on your dancing.
When booking a One on One with me its helpful to have a good idea of what you want to get out of the time, so that your money is well spent and I can prepare challenging activities during the session. The most common reason for someone to book a One on One are :
A Choreography, or performance that needs a fresh pair of eyes or extra input.
A performance that simply isn’t connecting to the audience or just doesn’t work.
A dance move or combination that needs extra time and work.
A dancer wants to work on a prop or style and local classes aren't available.
Wanting to give a performance that personal style, or to develop moves, frames and gestures that can become the dancers signature.
Moving between levels, polishing key skills in readiness to move up a class or prepare for more advanced workshops.
Taking more time to work on ideas picked up in class, workshops or from DVDs.
To have a choreography written tailor made for the dancer (Usually two sessions are needed)
For an assessment of previous learning, skills base and development of a Learning Plan (usually 6 or 9 months), to help with workshop choices and home practice.
If this sounds like what you need then please get in touch. One on One lessons can easily be arranged for Thursday mornings, or Sunday lunchtimes at my regular venues. If you would like a One on One on a different day or at a different venue, please contact me. We can then discuss your main aims and together develop a session plan. Fees for a One on One lesson are £50 per hour, with a 10% discount for my regular students, plus hall hire. If you and a small group of friends would like to share a private lesson, the costs is the same, but divided by the number attending.
REMOTE LEARNING :
Some dancers dont have a local teacher, outgrow their local teacher, or wish that they could take an additional class. For these people I can offer a remote learning class. You would need to be confortable with the basic moves and willing and able to allocate practice time. I will send you a weekly email with the outline of approx one hours lesson, which you then complete and email back feedback. Once a month you then provide either a private YouTube clip or a Skype call to demonstrate what you have learnt and provide topics to work on for the next month. Lessons can focus on technique, choreography, and performance skills and will be ained at your level. If you wish to run a small group who all follow the lesson plan together this can be great fun and easily accomodated, or you may prefer to only committe to a monthly workshop type one on one. Prices will depend on number booked, but should be competative with the local market.
SUPPORT FOR TEACHERS AND PERFORMERS.
I also provide help and feedbackt for other teachers or student troupes who need the opportunity to bounce ideas, or help with some aspect of their teaching or performing. If you have a simple issue to discuss this can often be done over email, but many people prefer a more formal arrangement, with either a chat over coffee, a long email conversation, or a video critique. These can be booked in a very similar way to a One on One, with my preference being a Monday or Friday, and have proved to be very helpful to both local and not so local dancers.
