Hers is a selection of my favourite dancers or video clips from YouTube.
I often talk about dancers to clips in class and thought this would be a handy place to store the links rather than have you searching (although sometimes its nice to get distracted and find lots of other fun stuff !).
Its always going to be a work in progress so if you find a really good clip then please share it with the Ning group (link on the home page) and you might see it added here too.
Firstly we have my Mentor Afra Al-
Next is Morocco of New York, who I have done workshops with almost every year for the last 8 or ten, and who I spent a week with in NY in 2006.
The Bellydance Superstars have probably done more to bring Bellydance to the general public than anyone else. They mix American style with some Tribal fusion and make for a great show. I’ve chosen this clip as it shows some of the big group numbers that we rarely get to see and also highlights some of the different styles they do.
And if we are talking Superstars we must have Rachel Brice who I often talk about when doing tummy work or pops and locks
Ansuya who I admire for her good old fashioned, yet cutting edge bellydance
Petite Jamilla who makes both turning and veil work look easy. Go search for her other stuff, but this still makes me smile and I’ve seen it 100’s of times
And Jillina, who is the Superstars choreographer and obviously very inspiring
Finally Sam from the UK -
