Description

A murder investigation in which Catwoman is a suspect is further complicated when Catwoman learns about Detective Josie Mac's psychic powers, a secret she has kept from the others at the MCU. This story also features Slam Bradley. Although I wish all of them got equal attention, all of the characters are enjoyable and well-drawn, lending to further ground the comic book atmosphere. Most of the story arcs were great but the standouts to me were:

I did not expect that to happen, so it was nice to see a form of 'justice' being meted out to these two crooked cops. It was a crazy moment in the series, and I could not believe I found myself 'rooting' for Ivy as she took them out. Granted, she was caring for a bunch of other orphans and runaways who also lived in the park; she considered all of them to be under her protection, which was a strange change-of-pace, as I had always understood her to believe that humans were a disease infecting 'Mother Earth' and needed to be eradicated. So, it was a 'more humanizing' appearance for (of) her than I expected, and made her more sympathetic to me, at that moment. Micheal Lark’s art is something you have to get used to. It starts to fit after a while but again can be quite inconsistent with the look of it’s characters making a lot of them blend together. The art style does change a few times but the worst style had to be the art for On the Freak Beat. With this being one of the more popular stories in this run, I wish the art wasn’t so messy.Interview with Ed Brubaker, Around Comics Podcast No. 42 [ permanent dead link] RetrievedDecember 2010 .
