You can take currency cards from a face-up spread (there are four different currencies, and the cards range from 1-9 in value)or you can draw one, blind. Players who have the most building tiles of each kind in their Alhambra at the right time (in the three scoring rounds) are awarded points - the exact amount depending on the type of building. The scoring board itself is also rather confusing, with a layout of numbers up to 100 going in odd directions. More common building types are worth more points, and building types are worth more points in later scoring rounds.

First, the players compare the number of each color tile they have in their alhambra, and award points according to an increasing scale.
